For three years, I suffered from back spasms in my lower left back, in addition to scoliosis (a 47 degree curvature in my spine). It was embarrassing, and very uncomfortable. The spasms were triggered especially when I would get nervous or when I was tired. The worst part was that I could not control them.

I learned from my personal experience that if I closed my eyes, got very present, and repeated the word “relax” unttl my back spasms stopped I could eliminate them for good…so that’s what I did. It’s similar to a mantra that people use when they meditate, except for my mantra was the word “relax” instead of “om”.
